Women’s Basketball Star/Past CYInterview Guest Candace Parker Coming to WNBA Las Vegas Aces
In 2007, CYInterview had the good fortune of speaking with women’s college basketball star Candace Parker [see here] of the Tennessee Volunteers. At the time, Ms. Parker was one of the most famous names in collegiate sports.
The photograph above shows Candace during her college years, when she played for legendary basketball coach and past CYInterview guest Pat Summitt [see here] at Tennessee. While Ms. Parker was playing for the Volunteers, the team won NCAA championships, in 2007 and 2008.
In the 15 years since that CYInterview, Ms. Parker has been on two WNBA Championship teams: the Los Angeles Sparks in 2016 and the Chicago Sky in 2021.
With a WNBA career spanning 15 years, Candance announced today that the next stop in her storied career will be here in the Entertainment Capital of the World. She will be playing for the Las Vegas Aces next year, teaming up with Aces head coach Becky Hamon and reigning WNBA MVP and past CYInterview guest A’ja Wilson [see here].
Candace Parker and A’ja Wilson, together on the same team, puts two of the most accomplished individuals to ever play women’s basketball side by side. Both are WNBA champions, NCAA champions, WNBA MVPs and Olympic gold medalists.
At 36, Ms. Parker recently contemplated retirement. However, her announcement today confirms that she will be back for a 16th WNBA season.
Candace Parker’s joining the Aces gives the Las Vegas hometown team another high-level player who can produce and has a desire to win.
Welcome to Las Vegas Candace!
