We CYInterview Multitalented Magician Jen Kramer: Headliner’s Show, The Magic of Jen Kramer, at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino

Earlier this month, magician Jen Kramer returned to her residency at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino. It had been more than a year since the graceful, multitalented entertainer was in front of a live audience.

As a child growing up in the New York City area, Jen always had a passion for magic. In 2014 she graduated, with honors in Theater, from Yale University. While at the Ivy League school, she also founded the Yale Magic Society and served as its President. Additionally, the Las Vegas performer also has a black belt in Shotokan Karate and is multilingual.

Currently, Ms. Kramer is the only female magician to have an ongoing show at a Las Vegas resort. Titled The Magic of Jen Kramer, her billing is as someone who turns the impossible into the impossible to ignore. There is no denying that it is impossible to ignore Jen Kramer and her amazing story, as one of the Entertainment Capital of the World’s great artists.

On what it was like to be back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino on May 7th, after more than a year off, Jen said this:

“It felt absolutely amazing. I had really missed it. I had missed my family at Westgate, the team that I love working with. I had missed the wonderful audiences, the feeling of being able to connect with people and it’s been so exciting to be back. And over the pandemic, a lot of what I was doing was really making the show something that would work in our new normal that would work well. So we went through every touchpoint from the beginning of the show to the end to really adapt it and make it something that is just as fun and just as engaging as ever, but make sure to keep into account safety precautions.”

Every Las Vegas entertainer has a different story about how they ended up here, performing on stage at a resort. While at Yale University studying theater, Jen began thinking about a life in Las Vegas and how that might make her professional magician dreams come true. They certainly did:

“When I was in college, I took an internship with Nathan Burton here in Las Vegas, which was a great experience, had the opportunity to spend some more time in Vegas and to learn about what this Vegas showbiz world is all about, how exciting it is and all the kind of opportunity for entertainers here in Vegas. So when I was in my junior and senior year of college, I really started more seriously thinking about, ok, let me work out the details and figure out how to move to Las Vegas and how to start my full time career there. After I graduated, I moved to Vegas, that was in 2014 and I really, absolutely loved living in this city and calling the city home is such a special place and I’m really just fortunate to have the chance to perform my show at Westgate here in Vegas.”

Currently, Jen Kramer is the only female magician headlining a show in Las Vegas. She offered her thoughts on that designation and said she hopes more women end up in the magic profession:

“I would love for more young girls and more women to have that experience as well. So, I’m just really, really proud to be a woman in magic and also really just excited to support all of the other terrific women in magic. They’re so many women in magic doing amazing things today and it makes me really happy.”
