Author Ed Jakubik Gives Us an Update on His Psychological Thriller The Doll Collector

It was earlier this year we introduced you to first time author Ed Jakubik [see more]. At the time, the writer told us his psychological thriller The Doll Collector would be available for purchase on June 1st. However, sometimes things do not go as planned. Mr. Jakubik claims he ran into some editorial issues that prevented the release of his book in June. Recently, the title was finally released on Amazon in an ebook format.

Coach Mike Leach of Washington State Talks: Bowl or No Bowl? Cannot Discuss 6’4” 400 lbs. High School Running Back Tony Picard, Will See Friend Matthew McConaughey’s Dallas Buyers Club, More

With Washington State’s football team at 5-5, head coach and CYInterview regular Mike Leach has them within striking distance of a bowl. Back in July, we saw Mike down in Key West [see here] and he predicted his team would make postseason play. If the Cougars win one their remaining two games, they will, indeed, make the postseason. Coach Leach joins us to talk about his team, as well as what he is up to beyond football. The NY Times Bestselling author of Swing Your Sword let us know that he has heard about the 6’4, 400 lbs. high school running back from his state, Tony Picard, who has been grabbing national attention. He also shared with us that he will be seeing his friend Matthew McConaughey’s film, Dallas Buyers Club, which has generated an Oscar buzz.

Repeat After Me, Omar Benson Miller is Not Forest Whitaker: The CSI: Miami Actor Speaks About His Career, Working with the Incredible Mya and the Fact that he is Not Forest

Next month will make five years since we spoke with actor Omar Benson Miller [see here]. You might recall the actor for his role in the Richard Gere, Susan Sarandon and Jennifer Lopez movie Shall We Dance or for his recurring spot on the TV show CSI: Miami. Over the years, people have ended up on CYInterview in their quest to figure out if Mr. Miller is related to Oscar winning actor Forest Whitaker. In 2008, Omar told us a rumor began on Wikipedia which led some to believe the two were related. Though no one can deny the physical resemblance, they are not related.

The Pirate Sword Swinger of the Great Northwest, Washington State Cougars’ Mike Leach – Coach, Scholar and Gentleman – Sits Down with Us in Key West and Talks Football, Movies, Geronimo and More

Last year, we went down to Key West to see Washington State football head coach and CYInterview regular Mike Leach [see here]. Recently we visited the key again to catch up with the coach. Coach Leach recently traveled to New Zealand, is finishing a book on Apache warrior Geronimo and, of course, is looking forward to the upcoming college football season season. Those, among other things, gave us a wide variety of topics to speak about. Conversing with the coach is always interesting, insightful and entertaining. Last but not least, it was a pleasure to meet his lovely wife Sharon. You can see a photo of us, all together, in the piece.

Author Ed Jakubik’s Novel, The Doll Collector – a Compelling Psychological Thriller – Available Online June 1st

Back in 2003, freelance writer Ed Jakubik’s former high school English teacher inspired him to pen his first book. Ten years later, that work is complete. Ed signed a publishing deal with Nashville based Dunham Books. Now, they are releasing his psychological thriller, The Doll Collector. The story focuses on a detective’s search for a disturbed individual who abducts young girls and leaves doll heads at the crime scenes. The novel will be available for purchase in an ebook format on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles and other online outlets, starting June 1st. With other psychological thriller novels being made into films such as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Da Vinci Code, it is possible The Doll Collector will follow in their footsteps.

Rising Star, Writer/Director/Producer Angelo Guglielmo Talks: Shifting From Documentaries to Feature Films; His Acclaimed Documentary Film/Book, The Woman Who Wasn’t There and Party Crashing

Soon enough, everyone in Hollywood will know the name Angelo Guglielmo. The success of his television documentary and book, entitled, The Woman Who Wasn’t There has brought the author, director and producer mainstream recognition. Millions have now seen his documentary on the woman who pretended to be a 9/11 survivor. The story is now on the road to being made into a feature film. The Woman Who Wasn’t There is also in consideration to be nominated for this year’s primetime Emmy Awards. As a creative professional who works behind the camera, Angelo has found his own way to show compelling pieces of the human experience. He is a superb documentary filmmaker. Now, he desires to move beyond documentaries into that very competitive arena known as Hollywood. Currently, he is focusing on succeeding in feature films.

Academy Award Nominated Director Lasse Hallstrom Sits Down with CYInterview at the Miami International Film Festival

Oscar nominated director Lasse Hallstrom has made some highly acclaimed movies. It began for Lasse more than two decades ago at the Miami International Film Festival, when his Swedish movie, My Life as a Dog, gained traction. He would end up receiving a Best Director Oscar nomination for the film. His movies, The Cider House Rules and Chocolat, went on to receive Best Picture nominations at the Academy Awards as well. Last month, Lasse returned to the Miami International Film Festival where he accepted the Career Achievement Tribute Award. Additionally, he brought with him his first Swedish movie since making My Life as a Dog. He brought The Hypnotist to screen at this year’s festivities.

For over 25 years, actor John Leguizamo has shown us his acting abilities in a variety of diverse roles, on television and in the movies. At the Miami International Film Festival a few weeks ago, the actor sat down with me to talk about his first full length Spanish language film, which was shot in his native Colombia. As we began speaking prior to our CYInterview, I realized how easygoing and fun John is. He is that friend you go to a football game or bar with and chat for hours about anything.

In recent years, we have seen numerous accounts of what happens to professional athletes after their careers are over. More than ever, we are seeing the pains athletes deal with after they leave their sports. This could be physical pain, the pain of broken relationships or financial pain. A new documentary, The Lost Gladiators, explores the life of some of hockey’s toughest players – known in the sport as enforcers – long after the games are over. At the center of the piece is Chris “Knuckles” Nilan. The former Montreal Canadien, Boston Bruin and New York Ranger spoke candidly about the personal challenges he has faced during his life and the pain he lives with every day from having played professional hockey.
