Martina Navratilova is one of the greatest tennis players in history. With 18 singles, 31 doubles and 10 mixed doubles major championships, her grand slam championship total of 59 makes her the winningest major champion in American history, male or female, and second overall worldwide. Major championships consist of tennis’s four major tournaments which are the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
Few have contributed as much to the sport of tennis as Ms. Navratilova. Last week, during the IWC Schaffhausen watch event on South Beach, we had a chance to catch up with the tennis legend about what is going on in her life and how often she is now getting out onto the court.
In 2004, Lenox Lewis retired from boxing as the undisputed Heavyweight Champion of the World. With a record of 41 wins, 2 losses and 1 draw, Lewis has one of the greatest resumes in the history of boxing’s heavyweight ranks.
Today, the pugilist lives in Miami Beach, Florida with his family. Last week during Art Basel at the IWC Schaffhausen watch event on South Beach, we had a chance to speak with the former champ about what he is up to today, as well as getting his thoughts on the state of boxing.
Arguably the biggest week of the year in Miami Beach, Art Basel brings together dozens of celebrities and the mega rich for exclusive and private invitation only parties. The festivities include many exhibits of art as well as the show casing of luxury goods. Wednesday night featured the IWC Schaffhausen watch event at the W Hotel on Collins Avenue. The evening was hosted by actor Jason Alexander of Seinfeld fame. See our photo above.
Stars in attendance included actress Emily Blunt, Victoria Secret model Adriana Lima, former Heavyweight Champion of the World, boxer Lenox Lewis, tennis legend Martina Navratilova, singer Solange Knowles, actor James Marsden and numerous others. The gala marked the launch of the new Portofino Midsize watch collection.

Luminaries attending the philanthropic soiree like hosts Lea and Roy Black, Gloria and Emilio Estefan and Courtney Love, no doubt, anxiously awaited the evening’s main event. And that main event did not disappoint. It was masterfully executed by a living legend.
At 72 years old, the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin put on an inspiring concert that electrified the ballroom at the Fountainbleu Hotel on Miami Beach. Earlier in her performance, Ms. Franklin sang Grammy winner Adele’s Rolling in the Deep. That cover is on Aretha’s new album Aretha Franklin Sings The Great Diva Classics.

The Hochsteins’ came out to support their friends Lea and Roy Black, as they have in the past, at this year’s The Blacks’ Annual Gala – the 20th anniversary of the event. Lisa wore a stunning gown from designer Claudio Milano. The couple just celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary. They told us what they did for their anniversary and what is new in both of their lives.
When you think music and Miami, Gloria Estefan’s name is the first one to come to mind; and for good reason. With a career spanning more than three decades, Ms. Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan of the Miami Sound Machine have long been South Florida’s show business power couple. Having sold millions of albums and won numerous Grammys, it is safe to save to say that Gloria is a legend.
Ms. Estefan is currently working on a Broadway show about her life and the music she has made. The show is set to begin November 2015. We caught up with Gloria and Emilio at the 20th edition of The Blacks’ Annual Gala. The Cuban born singer introduced Aretha Franklin, prior to the Queen of Soul’s performance at the Fontainebleau Hotel.
Yesterday, we reported on the 20th edition of The Blacks’ Annual Gala [see here]. The yearly event would not be possible without the good work of Miami’s socialite, powerhouse Lea Black. Her husband, prominent attorney Roy Black [see our photo above] always lends his support for the event, making the couple a philanthropic dynamic duo.

Celebrities and assorted Miami’s who’s who came out to celebrate the 20th iteration of The Blacks’ Annual Gala. The yearly event is put on by the “Social Mayor of Miami,” entrepreneur, author and Real Housewives of Miami star Lea Black and her powerhouse, attorney husband Roy Black. Attorney Black has, over the years, represented a variety of high profile individuals. Earlier this year, he began representing Justin Bieber.
At the event, Ms. Black was honored by Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine with the presentation of the key to the city of Miami Beach. Mayor Levine also proclaimed October 25th, 2014 Lea Black Day. In coming days, we will share with you our latest CYInterviews with both Lea and Roy.
The last year has been an exciting one for Samantha Hoopes. The 23 year old, Pennsylvanian model on the rise made her first appearance earlier this year in the coveted Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. The blonde beauty also worked for Guess.
Last month, Ms. Hoopes walked for the first time in Miami Swim Week. Fellow Sports Illustrated swimsuit models Nina Adgal and Hannah Davis were in the front row cheering Samantha on, as she debuted in that big week of swimsuit fashion shows.
In 2001 actress Roselyn Sanchez made her presence known in the movie Rush Hour 2. Playing an FBI agent, alongside actors Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, she portrayed a woman both alluring and tough.
Ms. Sanchez has gone on to successful roles in TV series Without a Trace, Kojak and, is currently on the hit show Devious Maids. The 41 year old actress, singer-songwriter, producer and writer recently appeared at the new South Beach hotspot Cavalli Miami, for a Venue Magazine party, where she was honored for being on the cover of the magazine.
Cavalli Miami is a restaurant and nightlife venue which opened earlier this year and is, as the name would suggest, a collaboration with famed designer Robert Cavalli. Ms. Sanchez is the Venue Magazine’s July/August cover girl.
