After returning from a trip to Los Angeles and celebrating his birthday last week, Mason Reese is looking forward to the next chapter of his new situation comedy, Life Interrupted. With all the episodes now available on YouTube, the web series has been submitted to a variety of festivals and competitions.
In our latest conversation, Mason reflects on his birthday, his trip to Los Angeles and what it was like to work with actor, musician and friend Robbie Rist, in episodes five and six of Life Interrupted. We’ve already heard, in earlier CYInterviews with Mason, what it was like to work with fellow co-stars Dawn Wells, Alison Arngrim, Erin Murphy and Michael Learned. But what about the actor who played Cousin Oliver from The Brady Bunch? Mason fills us in.
Speaking of The Brady Bunch, Mason also revealed to us that he has been dating fellow actress Geri Reischl. After The Brady Bunch ended, a variety show titled The Brady Bunch Hour debuted in 1976 and Geri played the role of Jan Brady.
Back in February, we had a wide ranging CYInterview with LaMonte McLemore [see here,] a co-founder of the multiple Grammy winning group, The 5th Dimension. Mr. McLemore has led an interesting and varied life as a singer, author, photographer and baseball player. He joins us again for another chat, this time to discuss some of the group's biggest hits.
We discuss hits from The 5th Dimension music catalog including: Go Where You Wanna Go, Up, Up and Away, Medley: Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In (The Flesh Failures), (Last Night) I Didn't Get to Sleep at All and Wedding Bell Blues.
LaMonte also shares stories about fellow 5th Dimension members Billy Davis Jr., Ronald Townson, Florence LaRue and Marilyn McCoo.
With WrestleMania 33 tomorrow, one of the card’s headliners, Bill Goldberg, spoke recently about the challenges of coming back to professional wrestling after a 12 year layoff. Goldberg will be taking on Brock Lesnar, at the event, for the WWE Universal Championship.
To comment on the impact of getting back into a professional wrestling ring after more than a decade absence, we welcome back pro wrestling school owner/teacher/wrestler Ric Drasin for some analysis. Beyond professional wrestling, the host of the popular YouTube show Ric’s Corner is also a bodybuilding legend, actor, author and artist among other talents.
In this segment, which featured columnist Jay Bildstein takes part in, Ric also gets into his recovery from knee replacement surgery, as well as sharing an interesting story involving his good luck.
In the Fall of 2016, professional wrestling legend Michael Sam Houston joined us here on CYInterview for an in-depth discussion about his life and the adversities he has overcome [see here]. With less than two weeks until WrestleMania 41, we welcome him back for an update on his life today, as well as to chew the fat about the past.
During our conversation, Sam, who participated in WrestleMania 4, shared some interesting stories about the event. He says one of the wrestlers pulled a rib – the wrestling term for pulling a prank – by putting sleeping pills in the coffee available to wrestlers backstage during that show, so the wrestlers would be tired instead of energetic. Additionally, he claims that singer Hank Williams Jr. took a liking to his mother at a bar where they met, by chance, after WrestleMania 4.
Bodybuilding legend, pro wrestler, author, actor and the host of Ric's Corner on Youtube, Ric Drasin is now in his eighth week of recovering from knee replacement surgery.
After having the operation, Ric revealed to us he wished he would have had the surgery years ago. Though he says his first few weeks recuperating have been challenging, he states that the surgery was worth doing.
Featured columnist Jay Bildstein joins us for our latest segment with the golden age bodybuilder.
On Sunday evening just past, the 89th annual Academy Awards acknowledged the best in movies for 2016. But aside from Oscar winners, who won for being best dressed at the annual Hollywood award fest? To answer that question, we welcome back wardrobe/lifestyle expert and personal shopper Angelique Michelle. During her career as a fashion consultant, she has worked with a variety of celebrities on their wardrobes.
We discuss some of the best dressed on Oscar night including Emma Stone, Janelle Monae, Naomie Harris and Ruth Negga, among others. But who was the best of the best? You will have to listen to the segment to find out.
LaMonte McLemore is the founder of the Grammy winning musical group The 5th Dimension. The group rose to fame in the 1960s with classic hits including Up-Up and Away, Stoned Soul Picnic and Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In. Though retired from touring and performing, LaMonte is still working on music today. He hopes his latest song, Cease Fire, will be used in peace marches around the world.
Mr. McLemore, remarkably, is far more than an award winning musician, as if that is not enough. He has had a long and noteworthy career as a photographer. He was also signed to a major league baseball farm team, in his youth.
In photography, Mr. McLemore was one of the individuals who contributed to the early days of African American celebrity media. Along with a partner, he founded a publication called Elegant, featuring rich and famous African Americans. After the magazine folded, he joined with Jet Magazine and for 50 years was the photographer for Jet’s Beauty of the Week feature. The Grammy winner would go on to work with Playboy, Ebony and other publications as well.
What do you get when you bring stars from Little House on the Prairie, Gilligan’s Island, Bewitched, The Brady Bunch and The Waltons together? You get the new sitcom Life Interrupted, now being rolled out in small weekly episodes on YouTube. The show, featuring 1970s star and frequent CYInterview guest, Mason Reese, just released its second episode today.
Mason turns in strong work, opposite actresses Alison Arngrim who played Nellie Oleson Little House on the Prarie and Dawn Wells, best known for her role as Mary Ann on Gilligans Island. Both Ms. Arngrim and Ms. Wells turn in magnetic performances and seem ideally cast. You can see the first two mini-episodes of Life Interrupted here and here.
We welcome back Mr. Reese, who shares stories with us about what it was like to work with these two TV legends, as well as other stories from Life Interrupted. Additionally, he fills us in on what else he has been up to you.
In recent years, audiences have seen actor Gary Busey on Celebrity Apprentice and Dancing with the Stars. Aside from his appearances on reality TV shows, he has continued to do the thing that made him a star, acting. His latest project is a movie titled Candiland out now on DVD and video on demand. The former Oscar nominee plays a father concerned about his son’s well being.
We spoke with Mr. Busey about Candiland, his role as Buddy Holly in the 1978 film The Buddy Holly Story that earned him an Academy Award, his favorite movie roles and other topics.
In amateur wrestling, mixed martial arts and professional wrestling, Dan Severn’s contributions stand out. Today, Dan is no longer actively fighting, yet he is still active in both pro wrestling and mixed martial arts as a trainer and promoter.
Though many might focus on his accomplishments in the UFC and mixed martial arts in general, his time in pro wrestling is quite notable as well. Dan was a two time NWA World Champion. One of his runs as champ was one of the longest in the NWA title’s history. His reign as champion gave him a chance to spend time with professional wrestling legend Lou Thesz. A former WWE superstar, he was part of the company during one of the most successful periods of that promotion’s history.
