RIP Tina Turner: Rock Legend Dies at 83
This morning, we celebrate the career of music icon Tina Turner. Known to many as the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Ms. Turner died yesterday, at the age of 83.
The Proud Mary singer entertained fans across the world with her raspy voice, charismatic stage presence and unique style, in a career spanning more than five decades.
In 1993, two-time Oscar nominee, actress Angela Bassett played Tina Turner in a biopic, about the life of the star, titled What’s Love Got to Do With It.
In 2008, Ms. Bassett shared with CYInterview her reflections on playing Tina Turner in that film:
“But, people still, you know, it’s still a favorite movie for a lot of people. They still remember it vividly and I love that. … There are still things that I didn’t see after the first viewings, which just makes it richer. Just makes it so layered.”
