Yesterday, actor Chadwick Boseman died at 43 years of age. The cause of death was reported to be to colon cancer. Over the last 10 years, the Hollywood star was becoming one of the industry’s most familiar faces, with his roles as Jackie Robinson in 42, James Brown in Get on Up, Supreme Court justice Thurgood Marshall in Marshall and T’Challa in Black Panther. Black Panther is one of the top 20 highest grossing movies of all time.

Past CYInterview guests including actress Angela Bassett [see here], actor Terrence Howard [see here] and actress Zoe Saldana [see here] posted tributes to the deceased star on Instagram.

Actress Angela Bassett, who starred alongside Chadwick in the movie Black Panther, shared these memories of the actor:

““It was meant to be for Chadwick and me to be connected, for us to be family. But what many don’t know is our story began long before his historic turn as Black Panther. During the premiere party for Black Panther, Chadwick reminded me of something. He whispered that when I received my honorary degree from Howard University, his alma mater, he was the student assigned to escort me that day. And here we were, years later as friends and colleagues, enjoying the most glorious night ever! We’d spent weeks prepping, working, sitting next to each other every morning in makeup chairs, preparing for the day together as mother and son. I am honored that we enjoyed that full circle experience. This young man’s dedication was awe-inspiring, his smile contagious, his talent unreal. So I pay tribute to a beautiful spirit, a consummate artist, a soulful brother…”thou aren’t not dead but flown afar…”. All you possessed, Chadwick, you freely gave. Rest now, sweet prince.”

Actor Terrence Howard remembered Chadwick’s ability to play a variety of great characters. He shared this on his Instagram page:

“He used his rare and amazing gifts to enlighten the world. He is a big as the characters he played and will be missed until we all are gathered in the next life! Rest well my beautiful brother!”

Actress Zoe Saldana remembered Mr. Boseman as a man of class, saying on social media:

“Rest in Power King T’Challa. My heart is so heavy right now. Your passing has hit me hard. I will tell my sons about you forever. You were one of the classiest men I have ever met in my life. It was an honor to have shared minutes with you on screen and to have crossed paths with you during press. Though our acquaintance was light you always left a lasting impression because of your energy, poise and gentle manner. May the Universe deliver you to your promise land brother. ~ Que en paz y en poder logres descansar finalmente. Con lo poco que estuviste aquí, dejaste un legado increíble!!!”

Last year, we told you about Chadwick Boseman’s latest film, 21 Bridges, in which he played a New York Police Department detective [see here]. He starred alongside actor J.K. Simmons and actress Sienna Miller. You can see a picture of all three above.

CYInterview extends its condolences to Chadwick Boseman’s family and friends at this difficult time. The actor will long be remembered for his fine work. His films are notable and well worth watching. RIP Mr. Boseman.
