RIP “Captain” Daryl Dragon: Captain and Tennille Fame Musician, Age 76, Passes; Played with Beach Boys, was a 70s Music Icon

Yesterday, Grammy winner Darryl Dragon, of Captain and Tennille fame, passed away. He was 76. Many will recall some of the music duo’s famous songs including Love Will Keep Us Together, Do That to Me One More Time and The Way I Want to Touch You. We extend our condolences to the family of Daryl Dragon and his music partner and ex-wife Toni Tennille, who reportedly was at his side at the time of passing.

We spoke with Toni Tennille for two CYInterviews back in 2016 [see here and here]. Ms. Tennille credited Darryl Dragon for helping her become her very best as a performer; telling us back then, “Working with Daryl brought out a whole other creative aspect in my life and really set me off on kind of a wonderful journey.”

“Captain” Daryl Dragon was reported to have died in a hospice, from kidney failure. “Mean” Gene Okerlund, a broadcaster of pro wrestling fame, also died yesterday at 76. He had had two kidney transplants during the course of his life. You can see our coverage of Gene Okerlund clicking here.

RIP “Captain” Darryl Dragon. He will no doubt be missed by many music fans around the world.
