RESPECT! to Lea Black on 20th The Blacks’ Annual Gala: Charity Ball a Hit; Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin Wows; Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Courtney Love, More in Attendance
Celebrities and assorted Miami’s who’s who came out to celebrate the 20th iteration of The Blacks’ Annual Gala. The yearly event is put on by the “Social Mayor of Miami,” entrepreneur, author and Real Housewives of Miami star Lea Black [see photo above] and her powerhouse, attorney husband Roy Black. Attorney Black has, over the years, represented a variety of high profile individuals. Earlier this year, he began representing Justin Bieber.
At the event, Ms. Black was honored by Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine with the presentation of the key to the city of Miami Beach. Mayor Levine also proclaimed October 25th, 2014 Lea Black Day. In coming days, we will share with you our latest CYInterviews with both Lea and Roy.
The Blacks’ Annual Gala raises money for the Consequences Foundation which assists at risk youth. This year’s event was done in partnership with the Mariano Foundation. The evening’s crown jewel was a spectacular performance by Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin. Ms. Franklin’s over 45 minute, virtuoso set kept the glittering gala crowd at the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach enthralled. We will have more on Ms. Franklin’s performance in the coming days.
In attendance at the gala were fellow music legends/Miami residents Gloria and Emilio Estefan. We had the pleasure of CYInterviewing superstar singer, Gloria. That CYInterview will also be available in the coming days.
Rock star/actress Courtney Love was also one of the big names attending the gala this year. Ms. Love is slated for an upcoming role on the TV show Empire.
Additionally, we caught up with past CYInterview guests, model/philanthropist Lisa Hochstein and her husband, plastic surgeon Dr. Lenny Hochstein, of Real Housewives of Miami fame. The couple just celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary.
We chatted, for a moment, with dentist to the stars/former Real Housewives of Miami star Dr. Karent Sierra. Dr. Sierra has been featured on The Doctors, TV show.
Other prominent guests included Ross Matthews, formerly of The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and US Paralympic Team Snowboarder/actress Amy Purdy, who has appeared on Dancing with the Stars.
Besides the Queen of Soul’s regal performance, The Blacks’ Annual Gala included a live auction. Attendees bid on everything from a once in a lifetime experience at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in London this December to a 90 Foot Pershing One Day Yacht Experience to ringside seats for Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s scheduled fight in Las Vegas in May of 2015.
The 20th Anniversary of The Blacks’ Annual Gala was a huge success, a highpoint of the Miami social events calendar and a testament to Lea and Roy Black’s commitment to philanthropy.
