Political Analyst Cliston Brown Back with Midterm Election Insight
In eight days, midterm elections will be held in the United States deciding which party will control the nation’s legislature: the House of Representatives and Senate.
To discuss this, we invited back former congressional staffer, journalist and political prognosticator Cliston Brown. In the coming days, on his website www.clistonbrown.com, he will provide his final predictions and analysis for the 2022 midterm elections.
Here in Las Vegas and the State of Nevada, there has been abundant national media coverage on how the state’s Senate race, between Democratic incumbent Catherine Cortez Masato and Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, could decide control of the upper chamber of Congress. Cliston agrees:
“I think that Nevada’s basically gonna be ground zero and I think that there’s a very strong possibility that what happens there could be determinative in terms of what happens in the Senate if John Fetterman doesn’t come through and win in Pennsylvania.”
The political prognosticator does not expect single issue voters will decide the results of the 2022 midterm elections:
“I don’t think there’s ever an election decided by single issue voters. You know, for a lot of the summer, Democrats on Twitter in particular were very, very hopeful about the impact of the Supreme Court’s abortion decision, but I’ve been telling people all along that I don’t expect that to have a massive impact that they hope or expect to see.”
