Peter Gerety, Talia Shire Deliver Needed Dose of Inspiration in Working Man: Strong Story, Powerful Acting Make Film Must See; Out on VOD May 5th
We recently covered the rise of movies on VOD (Video on Demand) [see here]. This coming Tuesday, another excellent film comes to the platform. The Working Man, starring veteran actor Peter Gerety – of numerous movie and TV projects including Charlie Wilson’s War, Flight and The Wire – leads the film along with his co-star, actress Talia Shire, of Rocky and The Godfather fame.
This film features superb acting. Those who loved Talia Shire as Adrian in the Rocky franchise and/or as Connie in The Godfather trilogy, will no doubt enjoy her performance in Working Man. It harkens back to her work in those iconic productions.
In Working Man, Actor Peter Gerety plays Allery Parkes. Parkes cannot accept that after working years in a rust belt factory, he and all his coworkers will be fired and the business will be shuttered.
Even after the factory is shut, Allery continues to find a way to go to work there. With the assistance of Walter Brewer, played by actor Billy Brown, the two rally the fired employees to come back to the closed factory to finish customer contracts and reclaim their livelihood.
One line in the film which stood out was, “You need work to feel like you are worth something.” I am sure many of us who are currently staying home can relate to that sentiment.
The Working Man is an honest movie about a group of people dealing with the challenges of everyday life, while finding pride in the work they do.
Whether it is a job or a loved one, all of us will, lamentably, deal with loss at some point in our lives. This film shows us how everyone deals with loss in different ways.
No matter how challenging things are right now, owing to the coronavirus pandemic, the Working Man is an inspiring film, teaching us to never give up in the face of adversity. See it!
