NHL’s Las Vegas Golden Knights Take Stanley Cup

Last night, the Las Vegas Golden Knights, of the National Hockey League, won their first Stanley Cup. Our hometown team defeated the Florida Panthers 9-3 in game five of the championship series, at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip.

Six years ago, the Golden Knights played their first season in the Entertainment Capital of the World. The NHL franchise was part of a nascent sports boom, here, in the Entertainment Capital of the World. The NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, NLL’s Las Vegas Desert Dogs, IFL’s Vegas Knight Hawks, AHL’s Henderson Silver Knights and XFL’s Vegas Vipers soon followed.

With Formula One Racing coming in November, the Super Bowl in February and the Oakland Athletics getting closer to an official move here, Las Vegas is becoming America’s sports capital.

Congratulations to the Las Vegas Golden Knights on their first Stanley Cup! We know many in our fair city and beyond are thrilled this morning.
