This past October, Murray The Magician took his show back to his old stomping ground on the Las Vegas Strip. He is back at The Laugh Factory at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino, performing on the same stage as legendary impersonator Rich Little who we saw with Murray back in November [see here]. Veteran comedian and actor Andrew Dice Clay still frequently does shows at The Laugh Factory as well and the late Rodney Dangerfield also graced the stage there, among others.
For Murray, The Laugh Factory is a venue that feels like home. He even has the same dressing room he originally had during his first run there. And fellow magician David Copperfield is still across the street from the Tropicana performing at the MGM Grand. Speaking about Mr. Copperfield, he said this:
“I love having David as a neighbor. He’s an amazing magician, a legend and when I started out magic, you know, I remember when I was like six and a half, seven years old, he vanished the Statue of Liberty. And to this day I still remember that as I’m sure Lefty did. … I’m honored to be, you know, hanging out across the street after coming from, you know, Vancouver BC and making my way through the States.”
During Murray’s performance, you meet his magic partner in crime, Lefty. Though Lefty does not speak during the show, his contributions make the performance feel complete. Both magicians do different tricks, using everything from cards to a lightbulb routine that involves milk. See my photo with both of them above.
Murray and Lefty are very friendly and interact with the crowd. At the end of the 60 minute show, these two performers take pictures with fans and sign autographs. The two magicians have been friends for a long time. This CYInterview with both men gets into how their friendship and working relationship began.
Away from their show at The Laugh Factory at the Tropicana in Las Vegas, both men have a lot of other things going on. Murray just wrapped an acting role in the Netflix series GLOW and he will also be on another episode of the hit reality show Pawn Stars. There’s also a new rap song about Murray on his YouTube channel, that was just released this week. He tells us about all that in this CYInterview. As for Lefty, he does a lot of consulting and behind the scenes work on other Las Vegas shows including the female topless revue Sexxy at the Westgate Resort Hotel and Casino.
As for their new show at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino, there are some new tricks that have been added. If you are looking for a show the entire family can enjoy in Las Vegas, this could be it. Lefty told us about one new magic routine he does in the show:
“40 to 45 percent of the show is new. … I put a piece in the show where I dress up a microphone like Murray and I make the microphone float, which gets a great reaction.”
Before their January 27th show, we had a chance to CYInterview Murray The Magican and Lefty together. You can listen to it, in its entirety, below:
