This morning, it was reported that Mississippi State head football coach, NY Times bestselling author and CYInterview’s most frequent guest, Mike Leach has died. He was 61 years old.
Since yesterday, people have been sharing prayers and positive stories about one of football’s most interesting personalities. Coach Leach transcended college football. He was a national treasure.
Since 2011, Mike Leach had been coming on CYInterview to talk about anything and everything. He first appeared with us in 2011, when his NY Times bestseller, Swing Your Sword was released [see here]. His last appearance, with us, was in August of this year, prior to the start of his final season as the head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs [see here].
After our first CYInterview in 2011, Mike continued coming on with us while he was the head football coach at both Washington State and Mississippi State. In total, he joined CYInterview on 30 different occasions.
There are many things that can be said about Mike Leach. Simply put, he was a positive and enthusiastic individual who was always excited to learn new things in life. To those of us who were fortunate to know him, we will remember our conversations with him for the rest of our lives. He was an inspiring individual.
Today, college football lost someone who made the sport more fun and interesting. We at CYInterview extend our condolences to Coach Leach’s wife Sharon, his children and extended family, his friends, his fans and anybody else who knew him. There will never be another coach like him. May he rest in peace.
