Mighty Coach Leach is Back: Talks His Cougars’ Chances at Bringing Home the Gravy in the Apple Cup, Will They Beat Washington?
After a 35-27 win over Utah on November 11th, the stage is set for Washington State to move forward. The Cougars enjoyed a bye week before arguably their biggest game of the Mike Leach coaching era. If they are able to defeat their state rival Washington this week on the road in the annual Apple Cup, it would be the Cougars’ first Pac 12 North Division Championship in the program’s history. They would then continue on to the Pac 12 Championship.
Washington State head football coach, NY Times bestselling author Mike Leach told us what he thinks is most important going into the game against their arch rival, “The biggest thing is and probably the most important thing is, is don’t get distracted by them. Worry about what, just worry about what we can do. You know, worry about being the best team we can be. And, you know, it takes a certain amount of discipline to do that, but I think we need to continually reinforce that.”
Our 15 minute CYInterview touched on many topics for the upcoming game against Washington and what is at stake this week. Coach Leach also reviewed his team’s progress, his quarterback Luke Falk breaking the Pac 12 touchdown passing record, what he did during the bye week and how he makes a great gravy to go with a Thanksgiving dinner.
