Lessons from Last Night’s Euphoria on HBO

Last night’s episode of Euphoria, on HBO, focused on people making bad choices when they are hurting. If there was something positive thing viewers could take away from this episode, it was that nobody should drink or drink and drive when they are dealing with emotional pain.

Rue Bennett, played by Zendaya, is now at a point where all she cares about is getting high. Rue expressed that she did not want to be around her girlfriend, Jules Vaughn, played by Hunter Schafer. She showed that her addiction and dependence on drugs is more important than her relationships, including with the person she says she loves most.

There are positive ways to deal with emotional pain, including speaking with a family member or friend or speaking with a mental health professional. Experiencing emotional pain is part of the human experience. How we deal with that pain is what makes the difference. We can choose a positive road, leading to greater emotional stability or follow a self-destructive path that can also harm others.
