Las Vegas Raiders Owner Mark Davis Buying WNBA Franchise, Las Vegas Aces, From MGM Resorts International, Pending Approval from WNBA Board of Governors
It was announced this week that, past CYInterview guest, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis, pictured with us above, was buying the city’s WNBA franchise, the Las Vegas Aces, from MGM Resorts International. Reportedly, the sale of the Aces is waiting final approval from the WNBA Board of Governors.
The team is coached by past CYInterview guest and NBA champion Bill Laimbeer [see here] and led on the hardwood by past CYInterview guest A’ja Wilson [see here]. They will now team up with the NFL owner. The Aces were runners up in this past year’s WNBA season, losing to the Seattle Storm in the WNBA Finals in Bradenton, Florida.
It will be interesting to see if a basketball court will be constructed for certain Aces home games at Allegiant Stadium. In short order, Mark Davis has become a leading Las Vegas figure in sports and entertainment overall.
Mr. Davis, a savvy businessperson, will most likely find a panoply of ways to cross promote his professional teams. We wish him the best of luck.
