Las Vegas Entrepreneur Chris Lowden talks Stoney’s Rockin’ Country, Vic’s Las Vegas, More

Las Vegas businessowner Chris Lowden grew up with a front row seat to the world of casinos. His father, Paul Lowden, had ownership roles in some of the Entertainment Capital of the World’s most famous resorts including the Sahara and Hacienda. Chris’s mother, Sue Lowden, is a former state senator.

Mr. Lowden has continued his family’s success, as the visionary behind Stoney’s Rockin’ Country. The country music themed bar has been open for 18 years. His latest project, an Italian restaurant and jazz music hangout, Vic’s Las Vegas, opened last year.

Chris recently joined us on CYInterview with fellow entrepreneur and CYInterview sponsor Rob Gill. Mr. Gill is the founder of Epic Financial Strategies LLC and author of the new book Surviving Success. Additionally, he has a youth basketball league, Epic Elite AAU.

Speaking about growing up with a father who was a Las Vegas casino owner, Chris Lowden said this:

“It wasn’t like, oh, we’re very special people. It wasn’t like that. We’re just a family that, this is what you do, this is what you own and you work hard and at the end of the day, it takes a team of people, right. You have one guy whose sort of steering the ship but it still takes a bunch of people to run that thing. So I think, you know, it wasn’t like, you’re just sort of busy just building things.”

For 18 years, Stoney’s Rockin’ Country has established itself in Las Vegas as a country music bar, restaurant and venue. There you can see the genre’s rising stars. Speaking about some of the history of Stoney’s, Mr. Lowden said this:

“What originally was called Duke’s and then we decided to change it, call it Stoney’s because everybody knew Stoney from Gilley’s, he was GM [general manager], everybody knows him, all the locals know him. And that was it. We opened it and we moved five years later to Town Square and been there ever since.”

Speaking about his new book Surviving Success, Rob Gill said this:

“I went from making 12 grand to a million within seven years. The challenge with the million is I couldn’t handle it emotionally. I stayed sober, but I couldn’t handle it emotionally. I felt like I didn’t deserve it so I started doing things subconsciously where I couldn’t survive at least at that point, that financial success, right.”
