Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Gym in Las Vegas One of City’s Key Sports Sites
Johnny Tocco was a famous Las Vegas based boxing trainer. He worked with great fighters including Larry Holmes and Sonny Liston. In 1997, Mr. Tocco died at the age of 87.
Though it has been almost 25 years since his passing, his legacy lives on in Las Vegas. Under the management of C.J. Wiggins, Johnny Tocco’s Ringside Gym keeps on keeping on. The late Mr. Tocco opened the gym in the 1950s, when he started training boxers. Mr. Wiggins carries on the tradition.
On the outside of the gym is a mural of Mr. Tocco, along with some of boxing’s biggest stars. You can see a photograph of it above. Located at 9 W Charleston Blvd, the gym is one of Las Vegas’s historical sports locales.
Currently, hours for the gym are:
Tuesdays through Fridays: Noon to 8:00 PM
Saturdays: 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM
The gym is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
