Hoover Dam: Manmade Wonder Close to Las Vegas

If you visit Las Vegas, and decide to get out of town and take a tour of the region, you might well be brought to The Hoover Dam. It is located 33 miles from Las Vegas on the Nevada/Arizona border. If you book a tour of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, for example, there is a reasonable chance your tour may stop at this manmade wonder.

During the Great Depression, the dam was built to provide both water and hydroelectric power to the Southwestern part of the United States.

Above is a photograph of The Hoover Dam taken this week. It is one of the great construction projects in the history of the United States.
