Hard Lived Truths
Hard lived truths to keep our roofs
Cast about, cast away, forgotten for another day
Hard lives, hard lies, today one lives
Tomorrow one dies
In an instant, in a hole
Young and handsome, decrepit and old
The winds of fortune come
The summer’s warmth is done
Hard lived truths to keep our roofs
Cast about, cast away, forgotten for another day
Hard lives, hard lies, today one lives
Tomorrow one dies
Taken through the mist
Gone is daily bliss
Blistered fingers pry
Our eyes upon the sky
We – heroes in our own minds
Then gravity kicks in and we unwind
Self-absorbed, self-inclined
Staring at our own behinds
Hard lived truths to keep our roofs
Cast about, cast away, forgotten for another day
Hard lives, hard lies, today one lives
Tomorrow one dies
Open to what comes
Though we might’ve become numb
Fun seemingly gone
But it need not be for long
The truth is in our hearts
Standing firm against fate’s darts
We grow against the wind
And in the end we win
The tale both bold and true
We keep faith to see us through
And when the journey’s done
We praise the morning sun
Hard lived truths to keep our roofs
Cast about, cast away, forgotten for another day
Hard lives, hard lies, today one lives
Tomorrow one dies
