Golden Gate Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas Celebrates its 115th Birthday
This past Wednesday, January 13th, the Golden Gate Hotel and Casino celebrated its 115th year in existence. It is the oldest resort on Fremont Street, in downtown Las Vegas.
When it opened back in 1906, its original name was Hotel Nevada. It was the first hotel made of concrete, in Las Vegas history. In 1959, it became the first place in Las Vegas to serve fifty cent shrimp cocktail.
Today, the Golden Gate is owned by brothers Derek and Greg Stevens, who also own Fremont Street properties The D and the newest resort in Las Vegas, the Circa Resort and Casino.
Happy Birthday Golden Gate! Here is to many more.
