Famed Sports Broadcaster/UNLV Alum Kenny Mayne Wraps 27 Year Run on ESPN’s Sportscenter

Last night, sports broadcaster, former quarterback, past CYInterview guest [see here] and one of University of Nevada, Las Vegas’s most famous alumni, Kenny Mayne finished a 27-year run with ESPN on Sportscenter.

Mr. Mayne went out with a bang by interviewing Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The future of Mr. Rodgers is up in the air. The question is whether or not he will return to the Packers, play for another team or be the next host of Jeopardy. In good humor, Kenny made fun of all the recent attention surrounding the NFL quarterback while Aaron Rodgers stated he was only there because it was Mr. Mayne’s last show.

Of course, it would not be a Kenny Mayne episode of Sportscenter without a Las Vegas mention, which did happen. The former UNLV quarterback has always been proud of his ties to Las Vegas.

Few in the world of sports broadcasting have ever entertained, informed and made people laugh the way Kenny Mayne has. Jokingly, he said selling greeting cards is up next for him, but in all seriousness, he is not retiring.

We look forward to what is next for the past CYInterview guest. To quote a Frank Sinatra song, when it comes to Kenny Mayne, “I did it my way!” Mr. Mayne’s career has always been about doing it his own way. We wish him well.
