For the first time ever, the American Civil Liberties Union welcomed cameras into their offices for the documentary film The Fight. The movie follows the nonprofit organization’s legal battle against President Donald Trump’s 2017 executive order 13769, Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States. It was commonly referred to as the Muslim ban. The ban, sought to deny entry to people from certain countries, most of which have predominately Muslim populations.
Through the legal battle, the ACLU was able to get the executive order stayed as it was ruled unconstitutional.
Actress Kerry Washington of Scandal fame and of the current Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere is one of the producers of this documentary.
The film will be released by Magnolia Pictures and Topic Studios on July 30th.
