Con-believable: Inventing Anna Netflix Tomorrow
Tomorrow, Netflix will release the miniseries Inventing Anna, which is about New York City con artist Anna Delvey, whose real name is Anna Sorkin.
This scripted series, based on true events, will focus on a woman who pretended to be an heiress. After making friends with some of the wealthy people in New York City, who were part of the social scene, Ms. Sorkin lied to them about her identity and scammed them out of money. She also falsified information about her financial standing to banks who loaned her money.
After serving time in prison for grand larceny and theft of services, Ms. Sorkin is currently waiting to be deported to Germany.
Reportedly, she was paid $320,000 for the rights to make her life story into this Netflix series. The majority of that money has gone to restitution, which she was ordered to pay.
