A chef at a Las Vegas resort has won a culinary competition. Ismaele Romano, of Ellis Island Resort and Casino, took first place at the 2022 Global Flavors Culinary Competition in Napa, California.
The chef won both categories, Il Fresco and Il Classico, at the competition and received $10,000. His winning dishes were a La La Land Tortino with Eggplant Tortino and Burrata Spuma and a Lasagne with Veal Ragu and Béchamel Sauce.
On winning the competition, Chef Romano said this:
“Winning a competition in the company of fantastic chefs, while creating dishes that carry memories of and inspirations from my family in Italy, brings such a unique emotion. I am so appreciative of the opportunity to carry on my family’s legacy through food.”
