Bye Bye Love: Music Great Don Everly of The Everly Brothers Dead at 84

Yesterday, Don Everly of the legendary music duo The Everly Brothers died. He was 84 years old.

Don and his brother Phillip who died in 2014, were a country rock and roll group that rose to fame in the 1950s. Their first number one hit was in 1957 titled Bye Bye Love. The group were inspirations for other famous acts including The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Bee Gees.

In 1986, they were part of the inaugural class inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Music legend Jerry Lee Lewis, pictured above, issued a statement on the death of Don Everly saying:

“The Everly Brothers are integral to the fabric of American music. Very few of us can say we were around at the beginning, and even fewer can say we’re still here. With my friend Don’s passing, I am reflective… reflective on a life full of wonderful friends, spectacular music and fond memories. There’s a lot I can say about Don, what he and Phil meant to me both as people and as musicians, but I am going to reflect today. God Bless Don Everly and long live Rock and Roll music.”
