Over the weekend, CYInterview was on hand to witness musician and vocalist Brian Newman’s After Dark show. The variety entertainment production takes place at the Nomad Library at the Park MGM Las Vegas. See our photograph with Brian Newman above.
The evening began with Mr. Newman’s performance of Tony Bennett’s famed song, The Good Life. It was an enthralling homage to the music legend.
Brian worked with Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga as the bandleader, arranger and trumpeter on their collaborative album Cheek to Cheek. The musician is also the bandleader for Lady Gaga’s Las Vegas residency’s jazz concerts that take place at Park MGM as well.
Aside from being a phenomenal trumpet player with entertaining vocals, Mr. Newman is a great host. During the three-hour event, aside from Brian’s performances, other talented singers and burlesque performers came to the stage to entertain the crowd. Brian called up artists from Las Vegas and other cities he believed should be heard and seen.
One of the evening’s performers was longtime Las Vegas resident, singer and past CYInterview guest Skye Dee Miles [see here]. Ms. Miles captivated the crowd for approximately 15 minutes, receiving a roaring ovation at the end of her last number. See our photograph with her below.
Burlesque performances from Brian’s wife Angie Pontani and Sabina Kelley were also featured during the evening. The audience also heard the electrifying sounds of guitarist Angie Swan.
Starting at 11:30 PM and playing well into the next morning for around three hours, Brian Newman: After Dark is a celebration of great musicians, exceptional singers and talented dancers. It will be a night of entertainment you will not soon forget that feels like it should never end. It is a true celebration of Las Vegas.
