Barry Manilow’s If I Should Love Again, a Touching Experience on Vinyl

“And maybe the old songs will bring back the old times” are some of the lyrics to Barry Manilow’s 1981 song The Old Songs. That song stayed at number one for three consecutive weeks on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart, the eleventh time one of Mr. Manilow’s songs charted number one on that roster.

This September, Barry Manilow is slated to return to the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino to continue his residency. The singer, songwriter and musician has been an ongoing act in Las Vegas for decades.

The Old Songs was part of Mr. Manilow’s 1981 album If I Should Love Again. Listening to it on vinyl is moving experience. The album peaked at number 14 on the Billboard 200 chart. The music legend plays piano on many of the songs on this album. No Other Love and Fools Got Lucky are but two examples of how Mr. Manilow can draw emotion from the listener. They also make you feel like as if you are at a concert where he is playing right in front of you.

For $5 to $10 on average, If I Should Love Again can be purchased on vinyl on Ebay and Discogs. It is well worth considering if you want to discover some of Mr. Manilow’s music beyond, his other hits like Mandy and I Write the Songs.

We look forward to when Barry Manilow returns to Las Vegas. He is one of music’s great talents of the last 60 years.
