Annual Get Lit – Words Ignite Gala Honoring H.E.R., GRAMMY Museum, L.A.

This coming Sunday, in Los Angeles, Academy Award and Grammy Award winning musician H.E.R. will be honored at the annual Get Lit – Words Ignite Gala at the GRAMMY Museum.

Aside from one of music’s biggest stars being celebrated, the evening will feature a tribute to a new category debuting at the 2023 Grammy Awards, Best Spoken Word Poetry.

All money raised from the evening’s event will benefit the Get Lit – Words Ignite education nonprofit organization in Los Angeles. Its mission is to increase literacy, empower young people and energize them with poetry and visual media.

When it comes to the poetry the students learn at Get Lit – Words Ignite, they take their own experiences and relate it to famous literature. The program was founded by Diane Luby Lane in 2006.
