Alexandra Taveras Talks Marc Anthony’s Las Vegas Residency, Motherhood and Her Music Career
This month, music superstar Marc Anthony is performing a set of concerts at the BleauLive Theater at Fontainebleau Las Vegas. Remaining shows will take place on September 18th and 19th. Additional shows will occur on November 20th and 21st.
Singer Alexandra Taveras is part of Marc Anthony’s touring cast of artists and musicians. She is a background vocalist for all of his shows in Las Vegas. Ms. Taveras has worked with Mr. Anthony for more than 20 years. Her career spans more than three decades.
Besides Marc Anthony, she has worked with Jennifer Lopez, Thalia, Celia Cruz, and Tito Puente, among others.
Speaking about Marc Anthony’s Las Vegas residency, Vegas, My Way, at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, the show features some of his best songs in both English and Spanish. Alexandra Taveras said this about the shows here in Las Vegas:
“I love it. I think it was well overdue. We’re having a great time. It is really refreshing to visit all of those oldies but goodies. I love it. It’s, like I said, it’s long overdue. I love the theater. I love that intimate theater, the venue is amazing and the audience is very different in Las Vegas also because you get people from all over the world that may or may not be followers or like true fans.”
Recently, Lady Gaga, who had a residency in Las Vegas at Park MGM, gave birth to her first child. Ms. Taveras, who has a daughter, weighed in on motherhood and how it can impact a singer’s career:
“As a woman, this career is incredibly hard to be able to have both, to have a family and a career where you’re constantly traveling, where you’re never home. It was very difficult, but I was able to do it because I had my mom move in with me and my mom would stay home with my daughter while I went off to work. So, it’s one of those things where, I am very fortunate I was able to have my mom and that I had a job that I, you know, was constantly working in the music field. But yeah, it’s very difficult.
So, my advice to women who want to do this is just be very aware that you’re gonna be sacrificing a lot. You’re gonna be sacrificing time with your children, time, you’re gonna miss out on birthdays and anniversaries and, you know, just life situations that you can’t attend because you gotta go and work.”
